That's Danger! Video

That’s Danger! is a series of web videos designed to inform young people about their Rights in the workplace.

An young apprentice magician goes for a job interview with an established conjurer, and finds herself drawn into a dangerous live webcast of his show.

This season we will work again with the Alberta Workers’ Health Centre [AWHC]. For a period of several years, we produced their touring show Work Plays about workplace safety for secondary students. By mutual agreement AWHC took producing in house, hiring the director Jared Matsunaga-Turnbull to continue supervising the production and develop the theatre program within the organization.

In 2008, AWHC commissioned a new show That’s Danger! from Dave Clarke for grade 7-10 students. AWHC then commissioned Don Bouzek to work with Kevin Flaherty and Jared in adapting the script into short video segments for use on line. Shooting took place at the end of April and editing work is now in progress for a launch early in 2011.

Kevin, the Director of AWHC, sees this project as a pilot for taking workers’ health and safety on line. He sees the show’s simplicity and directness making it accessible not only to younger people but also to the many workers for whom English is not a first language.
